Rome authorities do not rule out the possibility of new attacks by the Islamic State (IS or Daesh in Arabic) extremist group in Europe, Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said, as quoted by local media on Sunday.

ROME (Sputnik) — Security in Europe has been on high alert since the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris claimed by Daesh:

"We know perfectly well that they will try to strike again…we are working in the field of security so that we are not caught off guard," la Repubblica newspaper quoted Gentiloni as saying.

On Saturday, Austrian police stated that several European capitals received a warning from a "friendly intelligence service" about possible terrorist attacks during the holiday season.
