Five people were detained on Sunday and Monday in Brussels in a search linked to November's deadly attacks in Paris, Belgium’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office said.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — The prosecutor’s office said in a statement on Monday, that the day before Belgian police had detained two brothers and their friend in the center of Brussels as part of an investigation into the phone records of the Paris attackers.

It was added in the statement that two more suspects had been detained in Laeken, a residential suburb in the north-west of Brussels, on Monday morning.

No further details of the arrests have been disclosed.

On November 13, a series of seven terrorist attacks in Paris left 130 people dead and over 360 injured. The Islamic State (IS, or Daesh in Arabic) terrorist group, outlawed in Russia and many other countries, claimed responsibility for the tragedy.

Belgium has decided to retain the highest terror alert level in place until the end of 2015, after it was revealed that several attackers and an alleged organizer of the Paris attacks were either born or lived in Belgium.
