MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Cameron pledged more anti-terror scrutiny as he made the case for bombing Daesh, also known as ISIL/The Islamic State (a group outlawed in Russia) militants in Syria, in a speech at the House of Commons.
"I can announce today that we will establish a comprehensive review to root out any remaining funding of extremism within the UK," Cameron told lawmakers, who are expected to vote on the proposed British aerial mission in Syria later in the day.
Cameron said the review, due to be presented to him next spring, will examine the nature, scale and origin of the funding of Islamist extremism activity in the United Kingdom, including any overseas sources.
The review is part of Cameron’s broader counter-terrorism strategy to foil terror plots in the United Kingdom and to address the "poisonous extremist ideology" that, he said, is the root cause of the threat that his country faces.
