MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The European Union may collapse in 10 years time, if it fails to adopt a new concept of preventing crises, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview.
"It’s an open question," Orban told Politico magazine when asked whether the European Union would exist in 10 years, adding that the union "is only reacting, reacting, crisis after crisis, instead of having a concept."
Europe has been beset by a refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants fleeing their home countries to escape violence and poverty.
Hungary has been fiercely opposing EU plan to share 160,000 refugees under a mandatory quota scheme. Orban has repeatedly spoken against the quota as, in his opinion, it only addressed the consequence of the refugee crisis instead of tackling its root causes.
