    At Least 4 Die in Residential Building Explosion in Southern Germany

    At least four people, two of them children, were killed in an explosion in a residential building apartment in the city of Karlsruhe in southern Germany, local media reported on Saturday.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The incident occurred on Friday on the third floor of the building. People from the neighboring apartments were not injured, the newspaper Welt reported.

    A total of 11 fire trucks have been sent to the site of the explosion, and the fire was extinguished quickly.

    The causes of the explosion have not yet been determined, as well as the real cause of the deaths, the newspaper said, citing police sources.

    The material damage done by the explosion is worth some 50,000 euros ($53,000), the newspaper said.
