Spain’s National Police detained two men suspected of sending a letter to the ruling People’s Party on behalf of the Islamic State jihadist group, local media reported Monday, citing sources in the investigation.

MADRID (Sputnik) — The letter, written in Spanish and Arabic, contained threats to Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, as well as warned about future terror acts in Madrid and Barcelona, the EFE news agency said.

The suspects were revealed as convicts of a prison in Segovia, according to the sources.

The Spanish authorities charged the individuals for making the threats, the Spanish agency added.
