BERLIN (Sputnik) — Some 550 federal police officers work in shifts, supported by Bavarian law enforcement and other agencies, to accept and relocate refugees, according to Scharf.
"Today, up until now, we have taken in 2,700 refugees, mainly Syrians, Afghans and Iraqis. Yesterday, this number reached 3,400, which we accepted in the 24 hours of our inspection duty," Rainer Scharf told RIA Novosti.
On Monday, a spokesperson for the country's federal police said more than 83,000 undocumented migrants had entered Germany from Austria since the beginning of September.
