The editorial team reportedly received threats this week following SVT coverage of a summer party organized by the leader of the far-right Sweden Democrats, Jimmie Akesson, to which he controversially invited the Swedish rock band Ultima Thule, occasionally described as a "white power" band.
"Our reporter called early this morning to say that she had found an envelope in the mail box. When she opened it, it was found to contain a white powder and we phoned the police," the editor of SVT News Blekinge Martin Hult told The Local.
Police have set up road blocks around the offices and the national bomb squad has been alerted, according to the news outlet. The member of staff who opened the envelope has been isolated while the nature of the powder is being investigated.
A connection between the threats and the powder has not yet been confirmed.
