Belgian Court Hands Down Prison Terms to Four Women for Joining ISIL
19:10 GMT 18.05.2015 (Updated: 19:34 GMT 18.05.2015) A court in the Belgian city of Antwerp on Monday sentenced four Muslim women to 5 years in prison and fined them for a total of 15,000 euros ($17,000) for joining the Islamic State militant group, German radio RTL reported Monday.
BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — In March 2014, the convicted women allegedly traveled to Syria to marry ISIL militants and later joined the ranks of female armed groups operated by the terrorist organization.
The court also sentenced three other Muslim women to suspended prison terms of up to 30 months and fines on charges of involvement in ISIL activities.
