German Chancellor Angela Merkel should present an economic growth plan for Europe, Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said Sunday, calling for "a new doctrine to unite Europe."
He made his call for action on the Greek television network ANT1 during a time of increased tensions between Greece and Germany over Greek financial aid.
"Before she leaves office, Mrs. Merkel could leave behind a legacy for Europe, which all could remember as the ‘Merkel Plan,' as we today remember the Marshall Plan," Varoufakis said.
