Forever good at generating headlines, MEP and leader of the UK Independence Party Nigel Farage also recently burst into song during a heated debate in Strasbourg at the European Parliament.

Nigel Farage claimed the President of the European Union Jean Claude Junker was using the crisis in Ukraine to "seize an opportunity" to build an EU army.

"I've been wondering why David Cameron has been slashing the armed forces budget by two percent. We're going to do it at an EU level," said Farage.

Farage then made reference to Britain's former Prime Minister Tony Blair.

"Tony Blair was right when he said the EU is not a project about peace, it's a project about power. I think Mr Juncker is trying to seize an opportunity here. We ourselves in the European Union promoted conflict through our territorial expansions in the Ukraine."

"Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Mr Juncker?"

Mr Farage, despite murmurings from other MEPs getting louder, continued with his speech.

Creation of EU Army Would 'Liberate Europe From US and NATO'

"We provoked the Russian bear with a stick and unsurprisingly Putin reacted. But this is now being used as an opportunity to build a European Army", Farage said.

"Mr Juncker said we must convey to Russia that we are serious."

The heckling got louder — but Farage continued, almost lyrically.

"Who do you think you are kidding Mr Juncker? We do not want any part of an EU army and I doubt the rest of the people of Europe do either."

Farage then sat back down to the sounds of applause — having exhausted his speaking time — even extending it a little.
