Moussa Coulibaly, a man who attacked three French soldiers in front of a Jewish community center in southern France, broke his silence; Coulibaly spoke about his hatred towards Jews and blamed the French government for waging a war against Islamic State, Le Figaro reports.
Coulibaly is in police custody after his attack on the three soldiers in Nice. The 30-year French citizen said he hates France, the French police and military, as well as all Jews. Coulibaly also questioned Francois Hollande’s participation in the fight against the Islamic State and said that Muslims are being persecuted around the world, Le Figaro reports.
Coulibaly became radicalized in 2011. Prior to his attack on Tuesday, he was staying at a hotel near a train station in Nice. In his room, investigators found a hand-written note addressed to Allah, the French source says.
Despite sharing the same last name with Amedy Coulibaly, a gunman who killed four people in a kosher shop last month, Moussa Coulibaly does not have any known connections with him, according to Le Figaro. Coulibaly is a fairly common last name among people of Malian descent.
