The statement will be made during Alexander's Tuesday visit to Paris, where he intends to meet French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in order to "review, repair and reset" the United Kingdom's relations with its European partners.
"During his time in Downing Street David Cameron has done serious damage to Britain's status in Europe and in turn has diminished our standing in the world," Douglas Alexander is quoted as saying in the press release.
The UK's shadow foreign secretary will say that bolstering Britain's relations with the European Union will be among the Labor party's top priorities if his party wins the upcoming general elections to the UK Parliament in May 2015.
"A key foreign policy priority for an incoming Labor government will be to review, repair and reset relations with Europe upon entering office," Alexander will say.
In January 2013, Cameron promised that if his ruling Conservative party wins the elections, Britain will hold an "in/out" referendum on British membership in the European Union in 2017. The Conservative party lost a parliamentary seat in late November to the most Eurosceptic British party — the UK Independence Party (UKIP) — which has made a historic breakthrough by winning seats both domestically and in the European Parliament.
