The Foreign Ministers of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France will meet up in Berlin on January 12, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.

KIEV, January 9 (Sputnik) — The Foreign Ministers of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France have agreed to hold a meeting in Berlin, Germany on January 12, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said Friday.

"I've just hung up the receiver after a telephone conversation with my colleagues from Germany, France and Russia. The only "progress" [reached] is that we agreed to meet in person in Berlin," Klimkin wrote on his Twitter account on Friday.

On Thursday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said a four-party Normandy-format meeting, comprising of foreign ministers from Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine, was due to take place in Kazakhstan's capital Astana.

The so-called Normandy-format of meetings on Ukraine dates back to June 2014, when the leaders of Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine met in Normandy, France to discuss a peaceful conflict resolution in Ukraine.
