15:42 GMT 03.04.2017 (Updated: 12:03 GMT 09.02.2023) As the Syrian conflict enters its seventh year, its finally dawned on EU officials that the fate of Syria has to be decided by the Syrians themselves and not by outsiders.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said Monday that the European Union will accept any decision made by the people of Syria regarding the future of their country, assuming that it will be deemed acceptable by all Syrians.
