A Canadian court has overturned the approval of the purchase by American multinational oil and gas company Exxon Mobil of the InterOil Corp. fossil fuel company, The Wall Street Journal reports.

MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – InterOil said on Friday, as cited by the newspaper, that despite the Yukon appeals court decision, it will seek a new path to complete the deal, which had been expected to be closed in September.

Last month, Exxon Mobil revealed that its third quarter earnings had dropped almost 40 percent to 2.7 billion from 4.2 billion during the same time in 2015.

The company explained that the earnings results reflected lower commodity prices and a challenging operating environment.
