Slumping crude oil market and overproduction were not brought up during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s talks with the Qatari foreign minister, Russia’s top diplomat Sergei Lavrov said Friday.

BOCHAROV RUCHEI (Sputnik) — Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously indicated that the Russian leader and the Qatari dignitary might touch upon the global oil crisis during their meeting on Friday.

"Not, they didn’t discuss it," Lavrov said at a press conference in the southern Russian city of Sochi, following Putin’s meeting with Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Putin Confirms Plans to Cooperate With Qatar as Receives Message From Emir
Putin met with Qatar’s foreign minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, at his official Sochi residence earlier today. The diplomat passed on a verbal message on Syria to Putin.

Tumbling oil prices remain a concern for the two major oil producers. In April, Russia and the OPEC oil cartel failed to reach a deal in Doha on freezing oil output at January levels, in a bid to end the global oil glut.
