CAIRO (Sputnik) — Egypt has increased deliveries of fruit and vegetables to the Russian market, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil said Tuesday.
"We noticed an increase in deliveries of horticultural products to Russia last month," Kabil told RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the Russian-Egyptian business forum in Cairo.
Egypt's significance as a supplier of food products to Russia has greatly increased since the introduction of a food embargo imposed by Moscow on Ankara.
On November 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on economic measures against Ankara in retaliation for the downing of a Russian Su-24 aircraft. The decree, which entered into force on January 1, 2016, included a food import ban on certain categories of products.
