Rosneft, one of Russia's largest energy companies, has revealed that it is considering entering the Cuban market.

NEW YORK (Sputnik) Russian energy giant Rosneft is exploring the possibility of entering the Cuban market, according to a briefing compiled by the company.

"Rosneft is studying the possibility of entering the Cuban market," the company said in a document prepared for the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

In 2014, Rosneft and Cuba’s CUPET signed a deal on cooperation in enhancing oil recovery from mature fields.

According to the agreement, the two companies would jointly work on a comprehensive study of the conditions for developing and operating oil fields and wells in Cuba to determine the feasibility of producing oil, among other issues.
