MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak on Monday confirmed that trilateral talks between the European Union, Russia, and Ukraine are scheduled for June 30 in Vienna.
“Yes,” Novak said in response to whether trilateral talks would be held on Tuesday in Vienna.
The inaugural trilateral meeting on Russian gas deliveries to Ukraine was hosted by the European Commission in March, one day before the so-called winter package discount deal expired on March 31.
Moscow and Kiev agreed on the winter package in October 2014 to provide natural gas to Ukraine through the winter season. In April, Russia extended gas deliveries into the second quarter of 2015 due to Ukraine’s economic hardships.
The current arrangement, which provides Ukraine with Russian natural gas at a $100 discount per 1,000 cubic meters, will expire on June 30.
