Iran Begins Fish Deliveries to Russia
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Tehran is planning to boost exports of agricultural produce to Russia using a new transit corridor though the Caspian region, Russia's trade envoy to Iran told RIA Novosti on Friday.

"Iran is eager to increase its food exports to Russia and planning to open a transit corridor through the Caspian region," Andrei Lugansky said.

"Iran wants to supply fish, shrimp, chicken, vegetables and fruits, including apples, to all Russian food retail chains," the official added.

Russia May Start Importing Poultry From Iran: Trade Official
Iran is already delivering fish to Russia, after the countries agreed on a respective protocol on fish deliveries. In late March, Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said that Russia is likely to start exports of cheese and hatching eggs from Iran by mid-2015.

Moscow and Tehran intensified their agricultural cooperation after Russia adopted a year-long ban on a range of agricultural produce from countries that had sanctioned it over Ukraine crisis in 2014.

Russia and Iran are also maintaining ties in the fields of energy, industry, transportation and military cooperation.
