MOSCOW, November 27 (Sputnik) — Turkey has plans to double the amount of agricultural goods it exports to Russia by the end of next year, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz told Sputnik Radio on Thursday.

"We plan to double the export of our agricultural goods to Russia by the end of 2015," Yildiz said.

According to the minister, Turkey should put a special emphasis on exporting dairy, eggs and poultry. He added that Turkish suppliers had already been certified for deliveries.

Yildiz pointed out that Turkey was not trying to replace areas of the market place left vacant by the sanctions imposed on the EU by Russia.

Yildiz also said that Turkey would like to have its transport quota increased in terms of the amount of Turkish vehicles allowed to cross into Russia.

He said that the quota of 37,000 trucks allowed into Russia was not in proportion to the scale of Turkey-Russia cooperation. Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak was notified of Turkey's position and said he would take the appropriate steps, according to Yildiz.

In August, Russia introduced a ban on food imports from Western nations in response to sanctions imposed on Moscow over the Ukrainian crisis. Turkey refrained from implementing sanctions against Russia and was not included in the list of countries whose agricultural products were banned.
