Moscow's most expensive apartment for rent hit $47,000 in February, Penny Lane Realty said on Thursday.
The apartment with an area of 206 square meters (2,217 sq. ft.) was offered for rent on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street in downtown Moscow and included five rooms with palace-style exclusive renovation, antique furniture, expensive European household appliances and panorama views of Moscow, the realty firm said in its report.
At the same time, a no less prestigious three-room apartment with a floorspace of 240 square meters on Leningradsky Prospect, which stretches from the center to the capital's northwest, could be rented for $40,000 a month in February.
Individuals who are be ready to pay this amount would be accommodated in an apartment decorated in the modernist style, with exquisite furniture from the best European producers, premium European electronics, a Jacuzzi, and heated floors, the report said.
The largest number of posh apartments for rent is offered in the area of Arbat and Ostozhenka Street in the very center of Moscow, which account for about 35% of the overall supply of rental apartments, the survey said.
Experts say February registered an increase in the activity of apartment owners with rent starting from $9,000 a month, and with a share reaching 15% of the overall supply on the market of rental housing last month.
These apartments mostly included four or more rooms, with about a third of them offered for rent at a price of $16,000 a month and more.
