VILNIUS, November 12 (RIA Novosti, Vladimir Vodo) - The PKN Orlen Polish oil refinery is interested in buying the Lithuanian government-controlled stake in the Mazeikiu nafta oil concern, PKN Board Chairman Igor Chalupec said Saturday in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Chalupec said the company was interested to buy a part of the 40.66% share owned by the Lithuanian government. He added that these were not shares owned by Yukos.
PKN Orlen is interested to form a consortium with a Russian or Western oil company to buy into Mazeikiu nafta.
Earlier, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas said that talks on the sell-off of the Mazeikiu nafta stake would be conducted primarily with the Russian-British TNK-BP. Nonetheless, the Lithuanian government does not rule out negotiations with other companies.
