MOSCOW, October 11 (RIA Novosti) -- The Moscow Arbitration Court upheld Tuesday the 2001 tax fine against Yukos for 39.113 billion rubles ($1.37 billion).
The interregional inspection of the Federal Taxation Service ruled on September 2, 2004 to levy an additional 119 billion rubles ($4.17 billion). Some 80 billion rubles ($2.8 billion) were paid off without court involvement, but the remaining 40.6 billion rubles ($1.42 billion) were sought out through the court system.
In October 2004, the Moscow Arbitration Court reduced the remaining sum to 39.113 billion rubles.
