MOSCOW, January 30 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Joint Stock Company (RAO) Unified Energy Systems of Russia discusses the possibility of delivering electric energy to Lithuania, deputy chairman of the RAO Board Yakov Urinson said at the forum "Russia and the Baltic Countries in Greater Europe." Urinson told the forum participants that in the near future RAO Unified Energy Systems of Russia plans to sign an agreement with the Litovus Energy company on deliveries of Lithuanian electric energy to Russia. At the same time, the possibility is also being discussed of delivering Russian electric energy to Lithuania after the closure of the Ignalina nuclear power plant (the closure of this station, which was built in the Soviet years, was one of the conditions for Lithuania's entry into the European Union), he said.

Urinson also noted that the Russian energy holding company plans to take part, on a non-discriminatory basis, in the tender, if it is announced, for privatizing Lithuanian energy facilities.

Yakov Urinson reminded the forum that the privatization of the Eastern Distribution Company in Lithuania by the Russian energy holding company had been suspended.

He also said that the RAO Unified Energy Systems of Russia considered the possibility of purchasing electric energy in Latvia in flood seasons and is interested in taking part in privatizing Latvian energy facilities.
