MOSCOW, JANUARY 20 (RIA NOVOSTI) - Russian Vice-Premier Viktor Khristenko refuted the reports of the Ukrainian mass media that Russia is going to purchase the Kerch peninsula in exchange for Ukrainian gas debts.

Such reports appeared practically in all the Kerch newspapers. They write that Russian valuators visit enterprises and estimate how much the Kerch peninsula costs.

"There is no ground for discussing this issue. All the contradictions, which existed between our countries in the region, have been solved," Khristenko said.

According to him, the waters of the Azov Sea are not international waters, "it is our and Ukrainian space, and nobody else is needed there," Khristenko pointed out at a "business breakfast" in the premises of Rossiiskaya Gazeta.

Answering the question about the expansion of the Russian capital to Ukraine, the vice-premier said that business had already made its choice. The lion's share of oil processing in Ukraine belongs to Russian companies, to both sides' delight at that, Khristenko said.

Now, it is the turn of power engineering. Similar processes are going on in other sectors as well: machine-building and non-ferrous metallurgy. "Certainly, we are interested in this, may be even more than in simply removing barriers on the way of goods' movement," the vice-premier emphasized.
