MOSCOW, January 12, 2004. (RIAS Novosti) - In accordance with the schedule, the Russian Finance Ministry on Monday made its first payment this year in clearing off Russia's debt to the International Monetary Fund.
As RIA Novosti was told in the Finance Ministry, the size of the payment was 62.053 million dollars.
This is the first, out of the four January payments, in clearing off the debt to the IMF. The next three payments, according to the schedule, will be made on January 21, 22 and 29.
Altogether, this year Russia will have to pay about 1.7 billion dollars in this category of its debt.
Last year, Russia payments to IMF exceeded 2 billion dollars.
