RUSSIA, KAZAKHSTAN FOR CLOSER FUEL-AND-ENERGY PARTNERSHIP

ASTANA, JANUARY 9, RIA NOVOSTI - Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan say they look forward to closer bilateral partnership in the fuel-and-power complex. Their joint statement highlights joint mineral deposit development in the Caspian's north, joint oil and gas promotion in the world markets, respective cooperated transits, and partnership in power industry.

The statement confirms a shared desire to spectacularly upgrade and streamline interstate contacts in politics, the economy, military matters, culture, research, and humanitarian affairs.

The summiteers reported satisfaction with the rate and achievements of bilateral commerce, and economic, research and technological partnership. They spoke up for closer links, what with a vast cooperation potential.

The Presidents attach tremendous importance to Russian-Kazakh team efforts in transport and communications. They stressed the two countries' interest in partnership for new transnational transport corridors, and their shared goodwill to settle railway freight tariff issues.
