The anti-government demonstrations were ignited back in February, when the constitutional court banned the opposition party Future Forward, which was popular among students.

Sputnik is live from Thailand as a new anti-government protest led by students and youth protesters takes place in Bangkok.

Following the contested 2019 general election, Thailand has been facing protests, with the participants demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who staged a military coup in 2014 and installed himself as the prime minister.

Among other demands is a change of the constitution as well as reform of the monarchy.
