At least 36 people died and 13 were injured in a road accident that occurred in northwestern China shortly before midnight, media reported Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Local authorities said a bus crashed into a tunnel wall while traveling on an expressway that links the cities of Chengdu and Luoyang, according to the China Global Television Network (CGTN).

The injured have been sent to hospitals. China’s deputy minister for public security, Ming Huang, has arrived at the site of the crash and is leading an investigation into its cause.
