Government staff in the Indian state of Bihar has to wear helmets while working. This is being done just in case the building doesn’t collapse on their heads.

New Delhi (Sputnik) — A government office in East Champaran district of Bihar has become a matter of attraction ever since it came to light that employees here wear a helmet while working within the confines of their office.

Not only employees, even visitors have to wear helmets whenever they come here to get some work done. The building has been in a dilapidated condition and often a part of the roof falls due to which several employees have got injured in the past.

“I don’t have a bike but I bought a helmet and wear it while working in my office. Who knows when the roof falls on my head so I have to protect myself? Even during the rainy season, water comes from the roof. So helmet is also useful in that case,” Himanshu Kumar, an employee of the circle office, Areraj in East Champaran, told Sputnik.

“We have complained to higher officials and even sent an application to the Chief Minister’s Office but no one is interested in listening to our problems. Our office is situated in a remote area, therefore, no one cares about it. Recently, we have approached our Member of Parliament, hope he will heed our problem,” Kumar added.

Bihar is one of the most backward states of India, where infrastructure is in a very bad shape.
