The South Korean early presidential elections are set on May 9.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — The South Korean cabinet has set May 9 as the date of the early presidential elections following a State Council session on Wednesday.

The vote comes after Constitutional Court of South Korea unanimously upheld the parliamentary decision to impeach President Park Geun-hye last Thursday, removing her from office.
