"The Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned by the Director General (SA & SAARC [South Asia and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation]) today. A strong protest was lodged against the unprovoked ceasefire violations on 23-24 October 2016, by the Indian occupation forces at the Working Boundary in Phuklian and Chaprar Sectors, which resulted in martyrdom of two civilians including one and a half years old innocent baby girl. Six civilians were also injured as a result of the Indian shelling," the statement said.
The statement added that the Pakistani official told the Indian representative that New Delhi should investigate the violations and instruct its servicemen not to shell villages.
In the recent weeks, the relations between Islamabad and New Delhi have deteriorated, following the deadly attack of the Indian base in the town of Uri by a group of militants, who entered India from Pakistan. The tensions have resulted in the escalation of violence at the border between the two nations, which had already caused civilian casualties.
