India Not to Restrict People to People Contact with Pakistan

Some regional political parties and theater associations passed resolutions to ban a Pakistani artists who work in India.

New Delhi (Sputnik) — Despite continuous militant attacks in India administered Kashmir, the Indian government has cleared the air regarding the call to ban interaction between people across the societies of the two nations.

S Jaishankar, India’s Foreign Secretary, said before the parliamentary panel that the government was not considering imposing any kind restrictions on work visas or any other interactions of people of India and Pakistan.

"People-to-people contact would continue and there is no plan to stop it," Jaishankar informed the panel.

Some of regional political parties and theater associations passed resolutions to ban Pakistani artists who work in the Indian film industry. The Indian film industry is divided over these resolutions as some of the senior actors consider these ban opposing artistic freedom.

Recently, the Indian trade minister categorically denied that government had held discussions over the withdrawal of Most Favored Nation status to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Indian armed forces continue their raid on militant hide outs in Kashmir. In a joint raid conducted in Baramulla, armed forces apprehended 44 alleged militants on Tuesday evening.
