Chinese-Russian Joint-Sea 2016 Naval Drills to Improve Security
ZHANJIANG (Sputnik) – Russian and Chinese marines successfully worked out a series of tasks as part of Joint-Sea 2016 naval drills, the deputy head of Russia’s Pacific Fleet command said Wednesday.

"We performed pistol, machine gun and sniper rifle test firing exercises. There were shootings and obstacle courses, climbing and descending buildings, as well as simulating helicopter landings on a special rope," Lt. Col. Sergei Shimankin said.

He added that the next task was to jointly liberate a foothold captured by simulated terrorists.

A total of 18 ships and supply vessels, 21 aircraft and over 250 service personnel from the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and the Russian Navy's Pacific Fleet are taking part in the Joint-Sea 2016 naval drills on September 12-19 in the South China Sea.
