MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A helicopter crash in eastern Indonesia claimed a pilot's life and left three passengers critically wounded, media reported on Saturday, citing local police.
"The accident occurred at 8.15 a.m. [01:15 GMT]…. in Baya Biru, Paniai Regency [of Papua province]," Agus Rianto, a spokesman for Indonesia's national police told reporters, as quoted by the Rakyatku News portal.
The pilot died at the scene of the crash, while all the injured passengers were immediately evacuated to the nearby city of Nabire to receive medical treatment, he added.
He did not provide details on the reasons behind the crash.
