At least 20 were killed and dozens injured in a suicide bomb attack in the Afghanistan's capital of Kabul on Monday.

The attack was carried out outside a police station in the western part of the city. Most of those killed are civilians.

Afghanistan is in political and social turmoil, with long-standing Taliban insurgency and other extremist factions operating in the country, such as Daesh terrorist group, taking advantage of the instability in the state.

Afghan security forces regularly conduct military operations against insurgents.

Last week, a suicide bomber detonated explosives in front of the Russian embassy, killing at least seven and injuring 26 people.
