Former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov nitially accused of embezzling budget funds, abusing power, illegal involvement in entrepreneurial activities, as well as accepting a bribe, though the latter charge was later excluded by the prosecution.

ASTANA (Sputnik) — Former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported Friday.

Akhmetov was initially accused of embezzling budget funds, abusing power, illegal involvement in entrepreneurial activities, as well as accepting a bribe, though the latter charge was later excluded by the prosecution. The abuse of power charge was changed to obstruction of business.
