At Least 29 South Koreans Injured Amid Anti-Gov't Protest in Seoul
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – South Korea has raised the alert level on terrorism and promised to tighten security measures in the country after a series of terrorist attacks in Paris, local media reported Tuesday, citing a Ministry of Public Safety and Security official.

On November 13, a series of terrorist attacks at different districts of Paris left some 130 people dead and about 350 injured, 99 critically, prompting France's security services to be put on high alert. The Islamic State (ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks.

"No immediate signs of terror attack have been detected here, but the government feels the need to take precautionary measures," the ministry official said, as quoted by the Korea Herald newspaper.

South Korean, US Defense Ministers to Discuss Regional Security Nov 2
The government has decided to raise the alert level from "concern" to "caution," which signifies stricter security measures to prevent potential terrorist threats, according to the newspaper.

South Korea is expected to implement stricter control of dangerous substances which can be used for terrorist purposes and enhance security measures in the country’s most popular facilities.

The decision came amid concern that South Korea could be targeted by the ISIL jihadist group, as it is one of the members of the US-led coalition conducting airstrikes against the militant targets in Syria.
