The death toll from the Saturday collapse of a shoe factory building in China’s eastern Zhejiang Province has risen to nine, The China Daily newspaper reported Sunday citing local authorities.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The factory in Wenling city collapsed at about 04.00 p.m. (GMT 08:00) local time Saturday. There were 52 people inside at the time of the accident.

It was initially reported that the collapse claimed six lives.

The investigation is still underway, but, according to the local media, a large pool built on the factory's roof is believed to be the cause of the tragedy.
