Hand Grenade Explosion Kills 7 in Nothern Pakistan

At least seven were killed and numerous people injured after a hand grenade exploded in northern Pakistan during post-election celebrations, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to Samaa TV channel, the incident took place in the Tank district Sunday night, as people celebrated the victory of independent candidate Wali Khan in the local elections.

"It is not clear whether it was an attack or an accident," sources told Samaa TV, as post-elections celebrations included gunfire.

The local residents took the bodies of those killed and the wounded to a regional hospital, as rescue services were not available in the area.

Several insurgent groups operate in Pakistan, including Taliban, which seeks to enforce Sharia law in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The group is known for terrorist attacks against authorities and multiple human rights atrocities in both countries.
