MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav, after a series of earthquakes led to hundreds of civilian casualties and extreme destruction in Nepal, Kremlin press service announced Saturday.
"The head of the Russian state has offered sincerest condolences and support to relatives of the deceased, wishes of a speedy recovery to all those affected by the natural disaster," Kremlin said.
According to media reports, more than 750 died in the earthquake of magnitude of 7.9 that shook Nepal Saturday morning. The disaster took place about 82 kilometers (51 miles) northwest of the capital.
