At Least 15 Killed in Twin Explosions Near Local Gov't Office in Somalia

Two consecutive explosions in Somalia’s north-central Mudug region targeting the local government headquarters killed at least 15 people on Sunday, the Witness Somalia advocacy organization said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — No terrorist group has yet taken responsibility for the blasts.

"2 consecutive explosions targeted at local authority center kills at least 15 in Galkayo town of #Somalia," the watchdog wrote in its official Twitter account.

Somalia has been experiencing violence since the country devolved into civil war in the early 1990s. The state’s collapse provided a breeding ground for warlords, pirates and the al-Qaeda affiliated al-Shabaab.
