Flooding Kills 38 in Northwest Tanzania

Heavy rains and floods in Tanzania's northwest leave 38 people dead and 82 injured, officials said Wednesday.

Late on Tuesday the Kahama district in Shinyanga region was hit by a huge down-pour, high winds and hail. President Jakaya Kikwete's office made a statement, expressing his "shock and extreme grief."
According to officials, about 3,500 people in the region have been affected by the flooding.
