Soldiers and a fighter jet have been used to suppress a Boko Haram attack on the northeastern Nigerian city of Gombe, media outlets said.
According to witnesses, the militants have retreated towards their stronghold in the neighboring state of Borno.
The rebels managed to scatter leaflets urging people not to vote in Nigeria's elections, which were scheduled for Saturday but postponed due to the insurgency in the country's northeast.
The latest violence has forced Gombe's state governor to impose a 24-hour curfew.
