The German foreign minister arrived in Russia to meet Sergei Lavrov and travel to St. Petersburg where he will participate in commemorative events dedicated to the victims of the siege of Leningrad which claimed over 600,000 lives during World War II.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov holds a press conference with his German counterpart Heiko Maas in Moscow. The ministers earlier held a meeting, where they were expected to discuss the situation in Iran, consider tensions around Iran's nuclear programme, as well as the situation in Ukraine, Syria, and Libya.
