18:41 GMT 09.10.2019 (Updated: 10:46 GMT 11.10.2019) On Wednesday, Turkey started Operation Peace Spring in northeastern Syria. According to Turkish President Erdogan, the operation is aimed against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and is meant to protect Syria's territorial integrity.
A video made by a Sputnik correspondent on the Turkish-Syrian border shows the aftermath of Turkish airstrikes on the Syrian town of Ras al-Ain.
The reporter says that all check-points in the area are destroyed and it is not allowed to approach them. Chaotic traces of Turkish warplanes can be seen in the sky.
