The German police have confirmed at a press conference they had detained the suspect who injured at least four people. they previously reported it was "unclear whether he is the offender."
Earlier, the police described the suspect as a 40-year-old corpulent man with short middle-blond hair and stubble. He was also reported to be wearing gray pants and a green training jacket.
The man reportedly started attacking passers-by with a knife at Munich's Rosennheimer Platz at 6:00 am local time. As a result, four German nationals were injured.
The police have asked residents to stay away from the scene.

"We are looking for the perpetrator with all available police forces," the officials said. "Residents should not leave their houses."
