Trump Praises US Authorities' Rescue Measures Amid Harvey Hurricane
On August 15, US President Donald Trump signed away flood standards adopted by former President Barack Obama just a few weeks before devastating Hurricane Harvey hit Texas.

The prescriptions, approved and signed by Obama in 2015, had not yet been in force, but were designed to increase the resilience of infrastructure against natural disasters.

Trump decided to abandon the rule several weeks ago because he thought that it would slow down the permit process for infrastructure projects to be approved.

The move has been criticized by many social media users who thought that he didn't take the issue seriously. Many of them were outraged not only about the fact that the he signed the rule away, but also by the fact that right on the same day when the disaster took place he posted a tweet about a new book he had read.

At the same time, Trump tweeted that the rescue operation is underway and is well coordinated.

Trump Declares Emergency Situation in Louisiana Due to Hurricane Harvey
The US Gulf Coast has been battered by Hurricane Harvey since Saturday. On Sunday, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Harvey continued to pose a deadly threat despite its gradual weakening, with media reporting about the death of three people in Aransas County. Local authorities of Houston and Rockport have reportedly confirmed two deaths.

Harvey was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm by the NHC late on Saturday. Harvey is the largest storm to hit the United States since the destructive Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
